Neitzel heading to Pan Am Games

Spartan among nine seniors on U.S. squad headed to Brazil

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Michigan State senior guard Drew Neitzel is one of 12 players named to the USA Basketball Pan American Games men's basketball team on Tuesday.

Training continues through Saturday in Washington, D.C. The U.S. opens the Pan American Games against Uruguay on July 25 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Two players were cut Monday. Other players on the roster are Memphis' Joey Dorsey, North Carolina's Wayne Ellington, Vanderbilt's Shan Foster, Maryland's James Gist, Georgetown's Roy Hibbert, Oregon's Maarty Leunen, Washington State's Derrick Low, Virginia Commonwealth's Eric Maynor, Villanova's Scottie Reynolds, Washington State's Kyle Weaver and Indiana's D.J. White.

Neitzel is one of nine seniors on the roster.

At the Pan American Games, the U.S. will play in Group A along with Argentina, Panama and Uruguay in the prelimiary round in Rio.

The Americans also play Panama on July 26 and close out the preliminary round against Argentina on July 27.

Semifinals will be held July 28 and the finals will be played July 29.
