Three field hockey players all-region

EAST LANSING - Three members of the Michigan State field hockey team were selected to the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I All-Regional Team on Wednesday.

Juniors Jeamie Deacon and Floor Rijpma were selected first team all-region, while sophomore Jantine Steinmetz was named to the second team.

This makes the second straight year the three have earned the honor, and marks the 10th time in 23 years the Spartans (17-6) have had three or more players selected to all- region teams in a single season.

Men's team signs a top Ohio golfer

EAST LANSING - MSU men's golf head coach Sam Puryear announced the signing of Will Morris of Columbus, Ohio, to a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday.

Morris has finished in the top 15 at the state championship in each of the last two seasons, including a 12th-place finish this year. Morris will be eligible to join the Spartans for the 2009-10 season.

Softball team signs 4 student-athletes

EAST LANSING - The MSU softball team announced the signing of four student-athletes to National Letters of Intent on Wednesday.

Jayme O'Bryant of Buchanan, Shelby Wise of Jonesboro, Ark., Kylene Hopkins of Menifee, Calif., and Jennifer Ramsaier of Mesa, Ariz., will join the Spartans for the 2010 season.
