MSU update: If Raymar Morgan (sprained left ankle, sprained right foot) plays at all, it will be limited and off the bench. Sherman, meanwhile, suffered a deep thigh bruise in Tuesday's win over Gonzaga and sat out Wednesday's practice, but he should be good to go. Along with Tuesday's stars - Morgan, Lucas, Summers - Izzo said he was happy with the way Derrick Nix played off the bench. Now Nix just needs to hit some free throws. Izzo is concerned about Toledo's long-range prowess. The Rockets have hit 19 of 41 (46.3 percent) so far.
Toledo update: The Rockets are probably looking at another long winter after going 7-25 in the first season under Cross, a former walk-on at Illinois and assistant at Notre Dame, Virginia and DePaul. Three of last season's top four scorers are gone, leaving Cross with a young roster. Toledo lost its first game at home to Eastern Illinois, 72-62, and got drubbed 92-68 on Wednesday at Cincinnati. The Rockets did hit 11 of 21 three-pointers in that game, with five from Albrecht and three from Barnett. They'll need a blistering night from long range to make this a game for more than a half.
Prediction: This is a chance for MSU to get better before a short turnaround and tougher test Sunday against Valparaiso.
Make it: MSU 84, Toledo 62
