EAST LANSING - MSU sophomore forward Delvon Roe admitted Tuesday that he went months without telling MSU's coaches and training staff that his right knee was suffering serious pain.

He had it analyzed after MSU's Feb. 21 loss to Ohio State, and doctors told him he would need minor arthroscopic surgery on it after the season. Roe will continue to play through pain that he says has been "up and down" all season.
Roe also expects to have surgery on his injured right wrist after the season.
"My whole body is screwed up," he said Tuesday with a laugh.
The right knee was the big concern when Roe started feeling pain in it over the summer. He had microfracture surgery on that knee as a high school senior and was limited last season as a freshman.
"I had the same pain in the same spot that I had when I was in high school my senior year," Roe said. "So I was thinking it was the microfracture again. Just because of everything I've been through. And I knew exactly how that pain felt then. I was feeling the same pain now. That's the only reason I didn't say anything, just to keep playing and I love the game."
At times the knee felt fine and at times "it was hell for me," Roe said. Lately he is feeling OK early in games, but the knee tightens up on him after long periods of sitting, so he may start riding a bike at halftime to stay loose.
"That's gonna be a problem until the end of the year, we now know that, but what a warrior," Izzo said of Roe.
"I think I can be effective," Roe said of the rest of this season. "The only reason I kept playing was to win championships, be a part of championships. My parents didn't agree with me or anything I was doing, but it's my decision to go out there and be a part of a championship and help a team win a championship. In this last month I'm gonna do the best I can, even more (if) I can, to put another banner up in the rafters."
Roe said he does not plan on redshirting next season because he should be able to play on the knee a few weeks after surgery.
